The Wedding of the Year…and some…x100

On Sunday last, a very big client for the past 10 years, international theatrical producer David King, married the gorgeous Priscilla Rees. The Wedding was at Carlton Towers, Selby and we thought it would be a grand occasion but adjectives like “Grand” and “Spectacular” do not begin to describe it. I have been to a few “good venues” including Leeds Castle and Brockett Hall but Carlton Towers leaves them standing by miles.

Apart from performances during the ceremony and wedding breakfast by three of the best voices in the country, Jonathan Ansell, Nathan James and Andrew Derbyshire, there was the  dog who joined in with the Rabbi during the Jewish wedding blessing, a flashdance type performance of “There’s no business like showbusiness”, a wonderful poem created and read by Debbie King, a tell all speech by two of David’s daughters, Sophie and Savannah and so it went on. Even Roger de Courcey and Nookie Bear were there and absolutely hilarious (although Nookie was not on his best behaviour!!). Add in a wonderful contribution by best man Jonathan Shallit and then David’s own speech, which was a routine on it’s own. Everything was simply brilliant but needless to say it was the young page boy and flower girl who all but stole the show, as they walked slowly down the aisle,  one …step… at… a… time… just like they had been told and then halfway down broke into a sprint to get to the front when they caught sight of their “mum’s”, causing the whole room to burst into laughter.

But the day belonged to the bride and groom, so utterly devoted to each other and it really showed. The ceremonies were very emotional –  the bride looked stunningly radiant, just as you would expect and David scrubbed up OK too. When they proudly did their first dance as husband and wife, no one was expecting it would be a accompanied by a dance routine that would not have been out of place in one of David’s shows. The 8 piece band  were just brilliant and when Nathan and Andrew did a couple of numbers together WOW reached new heights!!!

So thank you Mr. Mrs. King for allowing Steph and I to share your amazing wedding day…which we have not stopped talking about since we left.

With every good wish to David and Cilla King, Mazel Tov to you both.
